Chandigarh: Caste clans from
Haryana, known together as
Sarv Khap, on Saturday accused investigating agencies of giving favourable treatment to sexual harassment accused BJP minister Sandeep Singh and forcing the complainant to visit the police station for petty reasons.
Dr Om Parkash Dhankar, an agriculture expert and leader of Dhankar Khap, chaired the meeting of Sarv Khap held at Baba Haridas mandir of Jharoda, a village on Delhi-Haryana border near Bahadurgarh.
The participating representatives of khaps passed the resolution in one voice, cautioning investigating agencies against calling the complainant to police station on the pretext of questioning.
Khap leaders categorically said that if required, investigating officers or teams should contact complainant at the place of her convenience as they did while questioning accused Sandeep.
“We really fail to understand when the accused is being treated as a VIP and complainant is being treated as accused. Haryana Police have formed a parallel investigation team to protect the accused minister. If they are really keen, the government should order a probe headed by or under supervision of Justice S N Dhingra (retd) and the entire probe should be done by any agency other than Haryana Police,” said Dhankar. tnn
