Panchkula: INLD Panchkula urban district president Manoj Aggarwal has sought a high-level probe into an alleged scam involving municipal land worth over Rs 200 crore, terming it one of the most serious land irregularities in the region.
Aggarwal said the issue highlights lapses in land record management and administrative oversight. He alleged that any transfer of govt land into private hands through record manipulation or collusion would amount to a direct assault on public assets.
Referring to earlier financial controversies, including bank-related cases, he said concerns over accountability were growing. He alleged possible involvement of influential individuals, officials and land mafia, and called for a transparent inquiry.
He demanded the case be handed to an independent agency or SIT, with criminal action against those found responsible. He also sought restoration of the land to municipal ownership and disclosure of findings.
Aggarwal warned that the INLD would launch a public stir if a fair probe was not conducted.
The issue follows a DULB reminder to the Panchkula MC commissioner seeking an immediate probe into the alleged transfer of shamlat land worth over ₹200 crore. A complaint alleged that then DC Sushil Sarwan transferred the land to Polo Hotel owner AK Dahiya, though it stood in the MC’s name.
