Indian National Lok Dal

(INLD), which won the second highest number of seats in the 2014 assemly polls in Haryana, has not fielded any candidate against chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the

Karnal

seat.

With the deadline for the withdrawal of nominations for the October 21 state assembly polls coming to an end on Monday, 60 candidates were in the fray for the five assembly segments in

Karnal district

. Karnal has 10 contestants, the least number of candidates in the five seats. Candidates left in the fray include 11 in Indri, 12 in Assandh, 13 in Nilokheri, and 14 in Gharaunda.

The INLD has failed to field a candidate against chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar. In all, 98 candidates, including independents and those associated with different parties, had filed their nomination from the five assembly segments of Karnal district, after the withdrawal of nominations.

BJP has fielded his sitting MLAs from Karnal, Assandh, Nilokheri and Gharanda seats, and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Kumar from Indri segment.

A local leader of the INLD said the party was not supporting candidate of any party, even secretly. He added that the decision of fielding the Karnal candidate solely rested with the party high command and he had not informed why no candiate had been announced.
