In Class XII results, govt schools outshine pvt ones

Chandigarh: The government schools outperformed private ones in the Punjab School Education Board’s Class XII examinations, taking top positions in science, commerce, and vocational groups. Declaring the results on Thursday, school education minister Harjot Singh Bains gave credit of this success to the teachers and “Mission 100%” launched last December.He said that in the commerce group, Simranjit Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School at Paras Ram Nagar in Bathinda had top scored along with Khushi Garg of Muktsar’s Government Girls Senior Secondary School. Both secured 494 marks out of 500. Shubkarmanjot Kaur Sandhar of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Samrala (Ludhiana), was second with a score of 493. In the science group, Navneet Singh of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines, Patiala, was first with 496 marks, while Khushpreet Kaur of Government Girls' Senior Secondary School, Samrala (Ludhiana) and Arshpreet Kaur of Shaheed Harpal Singh Government Senior Secondary School, Jethuwal (Amritsar), were joint second with 495 marks.In the vocational group, Avantika Sharma of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi, Hoshiarpur, was first with 491 marks, Dilpreet Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Ghuda (Bathinda), was second with 489 marks, and Harpreet Kaur of Government Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School, Patiala, and Ajay Singh of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dinanagar, were joint third with a score of 488.Bains said that in the examinations for classes V and VIII as well, students from the government schools had secured the first ranks.
