ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy reaches Chandigarh Univ
Mohali: The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour visited Chandigarh University Monday as part of its nationwide campaign, marking a stop linked to India pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is currently pursuing his studies at the institution.Students welcomed the trophy along with the official mascots, Blaze and Tonk, during the campus event. The silver-plated trophy, standing 51 cm tall and weighing 3.9 kg, features five interlinked metal castings symbolising the pace and energy of T20 cricket.
The visit formed part of the ‘Class of 26' initiative, a fan-engagement and storytelling campaign conducted by the ICC and DP World. The initiative reconnects the trophy with the early training grounds of members of the current Indian squad to inspire students across the country.Deepinder Singh Sandhu, senior MD of Chandigarh University, said it was a proud moment for the campus to host the trophy.Students also shared their excitement. Tsering Dolkar, a basketball and table tennis player, said seeing the trophy up close was inspiring. Kartik, a member of the university cricket team, said witnessing the trophy in person was a special moment for young players.The Trophy Tour has already visited the former educational institutions of several Indian players, including those of Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Rinku Singh and Kuldeep Yadav, before reaching Chandigarh for Arshdeep Singh. It will travel to Abhishek Sharma's alma mater in Amritsar on Tuesday.The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 will be held from February 7 to March 8 across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
