Heatwave to ease as rain spell sets in from Thursday
Times News Network
Chandigarh: A spell of rain over the next three days is expected to bring relief to the Chandigarh region from Thursday, easing prevailing heat conditions.
According to the weather forecast, the city is likely to witness cloudy skies, intermittent showers and thunderstorm activity, leading to a gradual dip in daytime temperatures.
On Wednesday, Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 43.1 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 22.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal.
Weather conditions are set to change from Thursday under the influence of a fresh western disturbance affecting north India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorm in Chandigarh and surrounding areas, including Panchkula and Mohali.
Rainfall is expected to continue intermittently till the weekend, offering respite from the scorching summer heat. During this period, maximum temperature is likely to remain between 36 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may hover around 24 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius.
Weather experts said humidity levels could rise ahead of the rain, making daytime conditions slightly uncomfortable initially. However, the upcoming spell is expected to improve overall weather conditions after several days of intense heat.
