Haryana bags 3 national awards under PM Surya Ghar scheme
Chandigarh: Haryana has received three national awards for the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, energy minister Anil Vij said on Monday.According to Vij, the awards were presented at a national programme in New Delhi. Haryana received the PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award for its performance during the "Month of Solar" campaign.The state secured third place for the highest number of consumer applications, with 17,142 applications; second place for rooftop solar installations, with 11,983 systems installed; and third place for the highest number of DISCOM inspections, at 12,514.Vij said the awards reflected the efforts of the energy department, renewable energy agencies and power distribution utilities in promoting solar energy adoption across the state.He said Haryana has set a target of installing 2.22 lakh rooftop solar systems by March 31, 2027, and is taking steps to achieve the goal within the stipulated timeframe.The minister said the state was working towards expanding the use of renewable energy and increasing household participation in rooftop solar generation.
