Haryana assembly set to host 3-day CPA meet

Chandigarh: The Haryana legislative assembly is set to host the Zone-II Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region, in Chandigarh from Monday, bringing together presiding officers, legislators and parliamentary experts from across the country to deliberate on key issues concerning democratic governance and legislative functioning.The three-day conference will be inaugurated on Monday by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in the presence of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker Harvinder Kalyan. Delegates from 15 legislative assemblies are expected to participate in the event.The inaugural session will feature a welcome address by Harvinder Kalyan and a documentary showcasing Haryana's history, followed by addresses from the dignitaries. A cultural programme highlighting the Constitution and India's cultural heritage will be held at Tagore Theatre.On Tuesday, three thematic sessions will focus on the role of an aware society and public representatives in achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and addressing future challenges. Experts and policymakers from various states will share their views.A special session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Rights will also take place. Manoj Yadav, director general, Haryana Institute of Public Administration, will present insights on emerging technological and legislative challenges.The conference will conclude with a valedictory session, focusing on strengthening democratic institutions, improving legislative processes and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat.MSID:: 131568528 413 |
