Dhillon meets Delhi CM, thanks her for relief measures for 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims
Chandigarh: Continuing his engagements in the national capital, newly appointed Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday called on Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta. Dhillon was accompanied by Delhi cabinet minister for environment, forest and wildlife Manjinder Singh Sirsa.During the meeting, Dhillon shared his vision for building a prosperous, harmonious and well-governed Punjab. He said the governance model of Maharaja Ranjit Singh remains an enduring source of inspiration and an ideal benchmark for Punjab's future. Highlighting his commitment to the state's rich legacy, Dhillon informed the CM that he had installed a portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in his office as a symbol of his dedication to the Maharaja's principles of justice, inclusiveness and good governance."The Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a Punjab where every farmer was prosperous, every faith was respected and no Punjabi lived under fear. We are committed to creating such a Punjab where every citizen enjoys equality, opportunity and dignity," Dhillon said.Dhillon also expressed gratitude to CM Rekha Gupta for the Delhi Govt's decision to simplify and relax the eligibility criteria for compassionate govt jobs for dependants of victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He particularly appreciated the relaxation in the upper age limit and educational requirements, as well as the provision allowing a next-generation family member to be nominated for employment where the primary dependant has crossed the age of 50 years.Describing the decision as a significant step towards delivering long-awaited justice and dignity to affected families, Dhillon said it reflects the BJP's commitment to addressing historical grievances with sensitivity and compassion.MSID:: 131550022 413 |
