Delegation from Mozambique, Zambia studies Haryana farmer’s biz model
Yamunanagar: Damla village of Yamunanagar district in Haryana—now emerging as a centre for rural innovation—on Wednesday welcomed an international delegation of 15 members from Mozambique and Zambia. The visit was organised under a Mozambican initiative aimed at studying India's successful agriculture and rural entrepreneurship models.
The primary objective of the tour was to observe proven Indian innovations in farming and small-scale enterprise and to assess how these models could be effectively implemented across African nations to boost farmer incomes and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The delegation was hosted by two-time National Award winner Dharamvir Kamboj, popularly known as Dharamvir Kisan. Visitors were briefed on his recognised multi-purpose food-processing machine, which has become a transformative tool for farmers and rural entrepreneurs.
A detailed live demonstration was conducted, showcasing how fruits and vegetables can be processed into juices, concentrates, and other value-added products. The international team examined how the machine helped farmers minimise wastage, diversify products, and enhance their income at the village level.
Delegates expressed interest in the machine's efficiency, affordability, and potential to empower rural communities—qualities that could make it highly suitable for implementation in African agricultural ecosystems.
One of India's foremost beekeepers, Subhash Kamboj, whose innovative work was mentioned twice by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address, was also present during the visit. He shared in-depth insights on advanced beekeeping practices, various honey extraction techniques, and the growing commercial scope of diversified honey products.
