Jhajjar: Days after allegedly attacking his mother with an axe and a saw over a money dispute, a man was arrested by Jhajjar police following a manhunt. The accused had been absconding and carried a reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest.
Police identified the accused as Rajesh of Khetawas village in Jhajjar district.
According to police, the incident took place in the Chhuchhakwas area under Beri police station limits. The victim had returned home from work and was standing in the street when Rajesh allegedly approached her armed with an axe and a saw and demanded money.
When she refused, an argument broke out, following which he allegedly attacked her, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Following registration of an FIR, Jhajjar police launched a search operation. Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by ASI Mukesh Kumar of Chhuchhakwas police outpost arrested the accused after tracking him across multiple locations.
Police said the axe and saw allegedly used in the attack were recovered during interrogation. The accused was produced before a court and later sent to judicial custody after police remand.
