Cops raid 26 nightclubs, seize 67 hookahs, make 3 arrests in Pkl

Panchkula: Police on Saturday night raided 26 nightclubs, registered five FIRs, arrested three people and seized 67 hookahs and 61 boxes of hookah flavours in the district.
On the orders of police commissioner Sibash Kabiraj, police teams conducted the raids in sectors 5, 7, 9 and 20 and Pinjore.
Cops said they found hookah being served to customers in “Da Badoga” bar and restaurant in Sector 5, “The Veda Bar and Restaurant” in Sector 5, “Blue Chip Hospitality” in Sector 9, “Circle Garden Bar” in Sector 5 and “Sardar Dhaba” on the Kalka-Shimla highway in Pinjore area.
The managers arrested are Vikrant Yadav, a resident of Manimajra, Chandigarh, Puna Ram, a resident of Haripur village, Panchkula, and Narender Singh, a resident of Sector 85, Mohali.
All of them were booked under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Panchkula deputy commissioner of Police (DCP) Sumer Pratap Singh on July 22 had imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the district banning serving/selling/purchase of hookah and its flavors. DCP Singh said “Nicotine based flavored hookah are dangerous for life and can risk health and can spread Covid too. Violators will not be tolerated in the district and stern action initiated in the future as well. All managers/owners of clubs, restaurants are advised to follow the law.”
