Cong protests fuel price hikes in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Congress Saturday held a protest in Maloya against the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices, the third such hike in a short span.
Party workers raised slogans and expressed concern over the impact of rising fuel prices on inflation and household expenses. Leaders said the successive hikes have added to the financial burden on residents already dealing with high costs of living.
Addressing the gathering, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky said repeated fuel price increases were affecting daily life and putting pressure on common citizens. Dharambir, chairman of the party’s SC department, said the rise in prices was particularly impacting economically weaker sections and labourers.
Mahila Congress president Nandita Hooda and councillor Nirmala also spoke at the protest, voicing concern over the broader rise in prices of essential commodities and its effect on households.
Party leaders said they would continue to raise the issue of fuel prices and inflation.
