BJP shortlists probables for all Haryana seats

CHANDIGARH: The state election committee of Haryana BJP on Monday finalised the panels of all leaders shortlisted for contesting the 10 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Headed by BJP Haryana incharge for

Lok Sabha

polls Kal Raj Mishra, the committee met in New Delhi. Other leaders who attended the meeting were: Haryana incharge Anil Jain, CM Manohar Lal Khattar, state BJP president Subhash Barala, ministers Ram Bilas Sharma, O P Dhankar, Captain Abhimanyu and Anil Vij, MP Ratan Lal Kataria and Union minister Krishan Pal Gurjar.

As the panels have been sent to the party’s central parliamentary board for final selection, four top members of the committee — Mishra, Jain, Khattar and Barala — will meet the board next week.

The meeting began with leaders paying tributes to Goa CM Manohar Parikkar. A source said each panel has four names. Special focus has been given to Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Hisar and Rohtak parliamentary constituencies. Except for

Kurukshetra

and Karnal, the committee has included the names of sitting MPs or their spouses in the list.

The remaining hopefuls include sportspersons, celebrities, and state and central leaders of BJP.

In the Kurukshetra panel, minister Nayab Singh Saini and

Radaur

MLA Pawan Saini have been named in the list. Ratan Lal Kataria’s wife, Banto, is also among the leaders named in the Ambala panel. “It is a matter of few days now. Everything will be made public by the month’s end, so that candidates could go and work,’’ said a member of election committee.
