CHANDIGARH: Haryana agriculture minister Kanwar Pal elevated political campaign boasting to the supernatural level while explaining the benefits of voting BJP, claiming that his party's flag was a ghostbuster with the power to drive away "evil spirits".
"Jahaan Bharatiya Janata Party ka jhanda lagega, vahan se dusht atmayen, bhoot pret bhi door rahenge (All evil spirits will stay away from wherever BJP's flag will be placed)," the senior BJP politician said.
The minister, while talking to a news channel late on Tuesday, also claimed that "all BJP party workers are like the lotus, which is pure and clean even if it is grown in mud".
An MLA from Jagadhri in Yamunanagar district, Pal is the senior-most minister in the Haryana cabinet.
In BJP's first tenure, from 2014 to 2019, he served as Speaker of the assembly. In the BJP-JJP coalition government in 2019, he was made education minister. When Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as CM he, too, resigned, but in the Nayab Saini govt, formed on March 12, Pal took oath as the senior-most minister after the CM.
