Amarinder Singh Raja Warring dares Jakhar to contest elections
CHANDIGARH: Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, expressed his confidence that BJP will not secure a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. He challenged Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar to contest against him from any constituency of his choice, asserting that he would emerge victorious.
Warring remarked, “I am confident that the populace will not give BJP a single seat in Punjab. I extend an invitation to BJP to nominate their most formidable leader, Sunil Jakhar, to contest from any constituency in Punjab. Should he choose to do so, I will contest against him and secure a resounding victory. The time has come for BJP to play their trump card and witness its failure in Punjab.”
On the issue of Y-plus security provided to BJP leaders, Warring noted that it appears to be a trend for leaders to receive enhanced security upon joining BJP. He expressed his astonishment at the extensive security arrangements for BJP leaders, pointing out that while the country’s borders might not be secure under BJP govt, their leaders in Punjab seem to have ample protection.
Reacting to recent remarks made by BJP leaders regarding Rahul Gandhi, Warring stated, “I abstain from engaging in counterstatements against such individuals. BJP and their leaders persist in disparaging Rahul Gandhi, evidently under the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. This orchestrated misinformation campaign, propagated by the BJP, RSS, and Narendra Modi, is baseless. It is a mere ploy by BJP to divert focus from the actual issues of the nation such as unemployment, corruption, inflation, among many others.”
Warring emphasised that the BJP at the central level and AAP in Punjab have made bold promises, but the time has come for a reality check. He believes that the Congress is the only party capable of effectively addressing the concerns of the people and that Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide tours have helped the party understand and address these issues in their manifesto. Warring also mentioned that Punjab’s unique identity necessitates avoiding an alliance with the AAP and that Punjab Congress leaders and candidates will not share platforms with their AAP counterparts, despite AAP’s claims of a 13-0 victory.
