4 arrested for attacking police escort

Jalandhar: Police here have booked four persons for allegedly waylaying a police escort vehicle and attacking personnel insideit at Guru Ravidas Chowk on Sunday night. Sources in police said the vehicle was moving with a minister’s cavalcade, but the FIR dees not mention the minister’s name or of anybody from his family. According to the FIR, four men on Sunday night parked their car in the middle of Nakodar road. When the personnel in the escort vehicle asked them to take drive car aside, the men assaulted them and also threw bricks at the vehicle, said the FIR. The FIR has been registered on a statement by a private person. It also mentions that the accused had already been brought to the police station. The accused were brought to the police station when they refused to stop creating trouble. Later, the FIR was registered in the day. No cops have been named in the FIR. The accused are Jalandhar residents Ashish Verma, Jatin, Nakul and Rishu. tnn
