Bhubaneswar: Union education minister
Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday assured to fill all vacant teaching posts in the country’s 54 central universities within six to eight months. “A special recruitment process is under way to fill the vacancies at the earliest,” he said.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha recently,
Pradhan
had said 6,558 teaching and 15,227 non-teaching posts are lying vacant in the 54 central universities. Advertisements have already been issued for recruitments in more than 4,000 teaching posts.
Several MPs have expressed grave concern over such large vacancies in the central varsities, including one in Odisha. On April 6, BJD Rajya Sabha member
Sujeet Kumar
had raised the matter of vacancies in faculty positions in the Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput. As many as 137 out of the sanctioned 154 teaching posts are lying vacant in CUO. Kumar said this means that 89% of the teaching posts of
CUO
are vacant.
