KENDRAPADA: The Railway's decision to bring

district and its nearby areas into the railway map of the country has led to the destruction of a 24-year-old art school built by London-based writer and painter Prafulla Mohanty in his native village of Nanpur, 25 km from here.

On Friday, officials began the demolition

process of the school

and met with stiff protests from locals and students. "We urged the officials to divert the railway line to the extreme northern side of the school and spare it. But they did not pay any heed to our pleas. The school has 56 students and three teachers.," said
