Rourkela: Rourkela police on Saturday busted a
drug trafficking racket operating in Plantsite area and arrested eight persons, including six women. Police seized 220g of heroin worth around Rs 1 crore along with over Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
Addressing a press conference, SP (Rourkela) Nitesh Wadhwani said the raid was conducted under the “Nasha Mukta Odisha Drive.” Acting on the inputs, Plantsite police, supported by three platoons of force, carried out an early morning raid at Meenapada on Mahatab Road under Plantsite police station limits.
The accused were allegedly involved in supplying narcotic substances to the general public, including school and college-going students for unlawful financial gain. The accused were Rosan Khatoon alias Shanti (55), Farida Khatoon (50), Md. Imran Aalm (28), Md. Alam (24), Nuresha Khatoon (55), Rahima Khatoon (58), Manisha Khatoon (25) and Madhu alias Nuresha Khatoon (59), all from Plantsite police station.
Plantsite police have also seized three mobile phones and cash of Rs 2,70,240 from the accused. Further investigation into this case is underway.
