Minister for school education

Kunwar Vijay Shah

told TOI that the government has given two years to teachers teaching in private schools without

B.Ed

and

D.Ed

to do their degree or diploma course. "It is a golden opportunity for the teachers who are without B.Ed and D.Ed. If they fail to avail this opportunity then the schools, where they are teaching, will be de-affiliated," said Shah. He said 98 per cent government schools have teachers with B.Ed and D.Ed while more than 50 per cent private schools in Madhya Pradesh have teachers without the said degrees.

He said the teachers without B.Ed and D.Ed are considered 'untrained'. Right to Education (RTE) Act 2010 makes it mandatory for all private schools to seek state government recognition, which is renewable every three years. Institutions failing to obtain certificate can be deemed derecognised. Heavy fine can also be slapped on them under provisions of the Act.
