Shivraj's show of strength in Chhindwara amid CM talks

BHOPAL: Three days after the assembly election results, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a show of strength in Chhindwara - launching 'Mission 29', to win all the Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh in 2024 - even as all CM aspirants of the state were in Delhi.

While the suspense continues on who would be CM, Chouhan, who on Tuesday said he wasn't in the CM race, held a BJP workers' meeting in Chhindwara, where he said he had campaigned throughout the state and won the party a massive victory. BJP lost all seven seats in Chhindwara despite sweeping the rest of MP.

Chouhan's statement came even when the BJP central leadership was discussing names for the next chief minister of the state. Those in the race - including Narendra Singh Tomar and Prahlad Singh Patel - met BJP national president JP Nadda on Wednesday morning. There was also a photo session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening. Nadda later met party national general secretaries to discuss the CM names. Another CM aspirant, Kailash Vijayvargiya, was present at the meeting.
