JABALPUR: Kanak Bihari Maharaj, a spiritual leader from Chhindwara, was among two persons who died when their car overturned in Narsinghpur on Monday morning.

The religious leader and three of his disciples were going to Varanasi from Ashok Nagar when their car crashed into a divider and overturned near Sagri village under Barman police outpost in Narsinghpur district around 10 am, Narsinghpur additional SP Sunil Kumar Shivhare said.

The religious guru and his disciple, Vishram Raghuvanshi, died on the spot. Two others have been hospitalized with injuries.

Sources said that the accident happened when the driver swerved to avoid a motorcyclist who suddenly appeared in front of the car.

Kanak Bihari Maharaj had donated Rs 1 crore for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and got the Raghuvanshi community to pledge Rs 111 crore for it.
