MP farmer’s son sets national record in pole vault

Bhopal: MP athletes continued their strong show at the National Games, with Dev Meena setting a national record in men's pole vault.Dev's gold medal leap of 5.32m smashed the previous record of 5.31m set by Tamil Nadu's Subramani Shiva at the 2022 Games. Dev, the son of a farmer in Dewas's Shilfod Kheda village, had won a silver at the Taiwan Open Athletics in Chinese Taipei in June 2024.MP athletes secured three gold and a silver in Modern Pentathlon, alongside one gold and two silver in athletics in a single day. Samardeep Singh Gill claimed silver in men's shot put with a 19.38m throw, finishing behind Olympian Tajinderpal Singh Toor. In Women's 3000m steeplechase, Manju Yadav won silver, finishing 22.07 seconds behind the winner.
