spokesman Durgesh Sharma, 45, died of Covid complications at a hospital here on Saturday afternoon. Sharma, a popular television panelist for political discussions, was admitted in AIIMS hospital with Covid early this month. He was later shifted to another hospital but as his condition deteriorated, Durgesh Sharma was shifted back to AIIMS where he breathed his last on Saturday.
Former chief minister Kamal Nath tweeted, “Received news of the sad demise of
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Durgesh Sharma. He was always devoted to the party, belligerent, active and had a friendly personality. His death is a loss to the
Congress party. My condolences to the family.”
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh also took to Twitter to grieve the demise of Durgesh Sharma. “There is the sad news of the demise of
Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesman Durgesh Sharma. He was a true soldier of the Congress party. His passing away is a loss for the entire Congress family. I pay tearful homage to him and stand by his family in this hour of grief,” Singh tweeted.
At the PCC office, the party’s officebearers and leaders paid tributes to Sharma on Saturday evening. Those present included former minister and MLA from Bhopal Southwest seat PC Sharma, state Congress media cell vicepresident Bhupendra Gupta, general secretary (administration) Rajiv Singh, Youth Congress spokesman Vivek Tripathi and others.
In the past two months, Congress state unit has lost two MLAs –Kalawati Bhuria and Brijendra Singh Rathod – and state Mahila Congress chief Mandvi Chouhan to Covid.
