In MP’s ‘gun capital’, peon pulls firearm at senior officer over salary dispute
Bhopal: In a bizarre incident, a peon posted at the office of the deputy director of veterinary services in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district allegedly barged into his senior officer’s chamber, killed the CCTV cameras and pressed a licenced revolver against his chest over a salary dispute.
Known as MP’s ‘gun capital’, Morena is home to the highest number of licensed firearm holders in Madhya Pradesh.
In unprecedented scenes, the peon, identified as Bhure Singh Bhadoria, broke into the office of deputy director Brij Kishore Sharma and pulled a gun at him during office hours.
According to Sharma, the accused entered his chamber on June 2, Tuesday. After disabling the security cameras, he allegedly pointed a gun at his chest, threatening to kill him if his deducted salary was not restored within five days.
He warned his senior that a “garland would soon adorn his framed photo on the wall”, if he did not do as told, police said.
According to the sleuths, the dispute stemmed from salary deductions linked to attendance recorded through the ‘Sarthak’ app in the veterinary department.
Sharma alleged that the peon had run up irregular attendance, resulting in a salary cut.
On a complaint lodged by the officer, Kotwali police registered a case against the peon.
Meanwhile, Morena Collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid suspended Bhure
Singh with immediate effect.
While a probe into the incident is underway, police said they were examining if additional charges should be slapped against the peon.
