Governor calls for promotion of cultural values through astrology

Bhopal: Governor Mangubhai Patel said that the knowledge of astrology is a gift of the research of our ancestors, and that the young generation should be made aware of the “relevance and importance of astrology in the contemporary world”.Patel was addressing the inaugural session of the first Maharishi Parashar International Astrology Conference in the auditorium of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan on Saturday.The two-day conference is being organized under the joint aegis of Central Sanskrit University’s Bhopal campus, Astroverse and Jeevan Vaibhav Group.Promotion of cultural values through astrology should be considered during the conference, the Governor said. “Astrology as an option for employment and business should be presented with its scientificity and creativity. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, he had planned Puneet Van in front of Gujarat assembly and Manglik Van in Ambaji on the basis of astrology,” he said.The Governor hoped that the conference would guide youngsters to take inspiration from Indian cultural traditions, ethics and values, and the scientificity of ancient Indian knowledge.In his online address at the inaugural session, David Tralen of the American Institute of Vedic Studies threw light on the dimensions of astrology. Describing astrology as a “science as well as an art”, he expressed the need for innovation and reinterpretation of astrology in the current social, political, technological, spiritual situations and scenario of communication.Former DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla said that astrology is a part of Sanatan tradition. Secretary of the organizing committee, Nisha Sharma, and director of Central Sanskrit University, Dr Ramakant Pandey, were among those present.
