BHOPAL: “Jiju lawyer honge court mein, ghar pe toh judge Twisha di hi hogi,” a harmless banter between a group of relative declares towards the end of one of Twisha Sharma’s wedding trailer video, as family members dance around the newly-married couple.
The line — meant as harmless teasing during the celebrations of Twisha Sharma and Bhopal lawyer Samarth Singh’s marriage — has now taken a dark turn, after Twisha’s death triggered a sensational 'dowry death' case involving her husband and mother-in-law Giribala Singh.
The wedding trailer, running over five minutes, captures a very different world from the one now unfolding in police stations and courtrooms.
Shot with cinematic lighting and soft-focus wedding aesthetics, the video is packed with hugs, jokes, emotional family moments, dance clips, playful arguments, candid interviews and relatives from both sides speaking warmly about the couple.
In the video, Twisha appears cheerful, outspoken and constantly joking with friends and family members.
In one sequence, relatives ask Samarth Singh how he managed to find “such a beautiful girl”, prompting laughter from the gathering.
Another family member recalls Twisha’s excitement after first seeing Samarth’s matrimonial profile. “She said, ‘Ye banda kitna sahi hai’. She checked all his photos and videos and found him very well-spoken,” the relative says in the clip.
Twisha’s brother recalls his bond with sister. “You can only cherish love when there is some hatred too. At one point, we were sworn enemies,” he jokes.
Another emotional moment shows the couple discussing the realities of marriage and relocation. Sitting beside Twisha, Samarth says it would be difficult for her because she was leaving Noida and shifting to a new city and home after marriage.
Twisha immediately responds with humour: “Otherwise I will bring Samarth to Noida.”
Her brother also says that when he first met Samarth, he felt Twisha had finally “found her match”.
The wedding video begins with playful interruptions from Twisha, who repeatedly jokes about the priest.
“Pandit ji, chhod do usko… poora footage Pandit ji hi khaane wale hain kya? Shaadi mere se karni hai, aapse nahi,” she says laughingly in one scene.
In another segment, when asked what she would miss most after marriage, Twisha first answers emotionally — “my parents and my room” — before quickly turning the moment light-hearted again by joking that she would have to “kick Samarth out of his room”.
Relatives continue sharing stories about her childhood nickname “Tuktut”, while another describes her personality as “upar se hard, andar se soft — like coconut”.
At another point, someone remarks that “humari ladki toh hamesha sehmi-sehmi si rehti hai”, prompting Twisha to instantly laugh and protest.
Twisha Sharma, 33, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Her family has accused her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide.
Police subsequently registered a case under sections related to dowry death and cruelty against a married woman under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
As the legal battle intensifies, Madhya Pradesh Police has issued a Lookout Circular against Samarth Singh, who remains absconding, and increased the reward for information leading to his arrest to Rs 30,000.
Twisha’s family has challenged the bail granted to Giribala Singh in the Madhya Pradesh high court, while Samarth Singh has moved court seeking anticipatory bail after being denied relief by a sessions court.
For now, however, the wedding videos continue circulating online as snapshots from a celebration filled with dancing, teasing, emotional farewells and relatives joking about who would truly be “the judge” at home.
