Doctor held after 32-yr-old nurse lodges rape plaint in Shahpura

BHOPLA: A 32-year-old woman, who worked at a private hospital in Shahpura filed a complaint at Shahpura police on Thursday alleging she was threatened and raped by a hospital owner, a doctor for past four months.

She alleged when she got pregnant the accused doctor married her at Arya Samaj Mandir and later he and his wife, forced her to consume tablets to abort the foetus. The survivor reported the matter to police. Acting on her complaint, police registered a case against the doctor couple on charges of rape and

forced abortion

and arrested them.

Shahpura SHO Jitendra Kumar said the survivor hails from Kerala and has been residing in

Bhopal

for seven years. She stays in Kolar and started working as a nurse at Dr Kapil Lahoti's hospital at

Shaitan Singh

Chouraha in Shahpura. She alleged four months back accused Dr Kapil raped her and when she protested he threatened to kill her if she told about it to anyone.

To scare her, the nurse claimed, the doctor would tell she lived alone in Bhopal and he was an influential person so she would not be able to do anything to him. He would threaten to kidnap and kill her, the survivor claimed.

SHO Kumar said the survivor alleged that she was terrified and did not reveal about incident to anyone. Dr Kapil raped on many occasions and made her pregnant, she alleged. When she informed Dr Kapil about her pregnancy, he told her he divorced his wife and was ready to marry her. She alleged Dr Kapil married her at Arya Samaj Mandir on September 19 and she has photographs and videos to prove it.

SHO Kumar said the survivor alleged after marriage she came to know that Dr Kapil had lied to her and he was still married to Dr Seema Lahoti and had not divorced her. Dr Kapil and his wife Dr Seema started pressurising her to abort her pregnancy and on October 9, took her to a hospital in Kolar for abortion, but the hospital refused to entertain them.
