Bhopal: Three separate attempt-to-murder cases involving knife attacks were registered at different police stations across the city on Monday, leaving three persons seriously injured. The incidents stemmed from old enmity, a financial dispute and a minor altercation, police said.
Youth stabbed in front of wife in Gandhi Nagar:
A 25-year-old man was allegedly attacked by two youths, including a minor, while returning home with his wife from his in-laws’ house on Monday night. The incident took place near a private school culvert under Gandhi Nagar police station limits.
Police said the injured, Zuber Beg of Gondipura Basti, had an old rivalry with the accused. The duo allegedly intercepted his motorcycle around 8.30 pm, abused him and attacked him with a knife after an argument. Hearing his wife’s screams, locals rushed to the spot, forcing the miscreants to flee. Zuber was admitted to hospital in a serious condition.
Money dispute turns violent in Talaiya:
In another incident, a dispute over borrowed money led to a knife attack in the Ginnori area under Talaiya police station limits. Police said Ayub Dad Khan, 33, a resident of Ghoda Nakkas, was sitting with friends when an argument broke out with Mudassir of Kotwali over a financial transaction.
The dispute escalated and Mudassir, along with an associate identified as Nasir Jinsi of Jehangirabad, allegedly stabbed Ayub before fleeing. He was rushed to hospital by his friend Asad Ali.
Auto driver stabbed while trying to intervene:
A third case was reported from Teela Jamalpura, where Salman Khan, 22, an auto driver from Congress Nagar, was allegedly stabbed multiple times while attempting to mediate a dispute involving his cousin Arsalan.
Police said Arsalan, who works in a travel agency had earlier arguments with Islam, 22, a driver, over passing of vehicle. When Salman tried to intervene on Monday night, Islam allegedly attacked him with a knife, causing injuries to his head, shoulder, abdomen and back. He remains hospitalised. Police have arrested the accused.
Police said investigations are underway in all three cases.
