2 ASIs suspended for laughing, chewing paan during CM Helpline review meet in Madhya Pradesh
BHOPAL: Days after a cop in Shahdol range was pulled up for turning up in jeans, two more policemen in Balaghat were suspended - one for chewing paan and another for laughing during a CM Helpline video review.
The action was taken by Balaghat SP Aditya Mishra following a review of pending complaints on the CM Helpline through video conferencing on April 17.
According to the orders, ASI Ramkishore Rahangdale, posted at Kotwali police station, was seen laughing during the review without any apparent reason and failed to give satisfactory answers when questioned about pending complaints.
In a separate order, ASI Pendarilal Ahake, posted at Kati police station, was found chewing paan during the same exercise and was unable to provide updates on cases assigned to him.
The suspension orders note that both officers displayed conduct "indicative of indiscipline" during an official review, with one appearing casual and the other unresponsive on crucial case details. Departmental inquiries have been initiated against them, and they have been attached to the reserve centre pending further proceedings.
Balaghat SP Aditya Mishra told TOI, "Primary issue was not the indiscipline but the insensitivity about the issue. The video conferencing was regarding review of CM Helpline complaints of missing kids. One of the officers concerned was sitting with his station incharge and laughing; when asked, he had no update on the case assigned to him, nor did he have his case diary. Similar was the issue with the other one. The issue of missing children is very sensitive - if a family loses its child, only they can understand the trauma. We have launched an intensive campaign to trace all the missing children. In the past 15 days, we have traced and recovered as many as 20 children missing for quite some time. A child was even recovered from as far as Nepal, and in the next 7 days, we are hopeful of tracing and recovering another 25 such missing kids. It is not only these two officials - action was taken against others also who were found negligent towards the issue."
