BENGALURU: Electronics City sub-division police investigating irregularities in Central Prison, Bengaluru, say they are not yet done with questioning actor Darshan and rowdysheeters who are accused in two of the three cases registered in this regard.
“Our focus is mainly on the third case, in which prison officials shifted some items a few hours before CCB sleuths paid a surprise visit to the prison in the early hours of Saturday.
It means that information was leaked to the prison about CCB’s visit.
On Wednesday, we recorded the statements of prison staff and inmates, who are witnesses in the three cases,” a senior cop said.
“Though investigating officers have interrogated Darshan, they are not yet done with his questioning. When the investigating officer asked Darshan about the privileges he enjoyed in prison and for speaking on a video call, the actor replied that cigarette and lawn arrangements were made by rowdy, Wilson Garden Naga. Darshan said he was watching prison inmates play cricket, when Naga invited him for tea and a cigarette... The phone which was used to click a photo of Darshan, Naga and the gang is yet to be recovered,” the officer said. Darshan and the gang’s judicial custody, which ended Wednesday, has been extended till Sept 9.
Three more suspendedThree more officials — jail supervisor Sudharshan KS, jailer Paramesh Nayak Lamani and assistant jailer Rayamane KB — were suspended Wednesday.
