Vijay Daniel

and sister Nancy lived with their aunt,” a family member said.

Police launched a manhunt for the suspects, identified as Suri and his younger brother Chandan, both residents of Attiguppe in Vijayanagar. Suri and Chandan were allegedly with some friends when the incident took place around 8pm.

Preliminary investigation revealed Chandan and Suri would often come near Thomas’ house and indulge in eve-teasing and smoking.

Thomas

had objected to this a few times and there had been heated arguments. Recently, Chandan and Suri mocked the sister of Thomas’ friend Lakshmikant.

Fed up, Thomas decided to approach the duo’s father. He met Ramesh Kumar, who runs a printing press, around 7pm on Friday and narrated the incident. At the same time, Lakshmikant’s mother called Ramesh over phone to complain. Ramesh is said to have called his sons and scolded them. Thomas was walking back home after meeting Ramesh when Suri and Chandan attacked him near Pipeline Road. He sustained serious stab wounds and succumbed at a nearby hospital, police said.
