Speaker seeks review of dargah violence cases, triggers row
Bengaluru: A letter by assembly speaker UT Khader to home minister G Parameshwara seeking a review of cases linked to the 2022 Ladle Mashak Dargah violence has sparked a fresh political row. Khader urged the govt to examine the cases and consider withdrawing charges against what he described as innocent Muslim youth. He contended that several people were wrongly named in the FIRs and said action should be taken to drop charges against those falsely implicated. The speaker's request has drawn sharp reactions from Hindu forums, including Shiv Sena, which warned govt against any move to dilute the cases. Functionaries of these groups said the incident involved serious violence and cautioned that withdrawing cases could trigger protests.
