However, a quick sp ot investigation indicated that a man, standing close to the barricades with his family and recording a selfie video, had thrown a flower and the mobile in excitement. The device has been seized by cops, who will return it only after a detailed probe.

A senior officer said at least two dozen mobile phones were flung towards Modi’s convoy during the 5. 3-km roadshow between NICE Road junction on Magadi Road and Sumanahalli junction on April 29. “That day, we seized 25 phones that camehurling from the crowd. We closely watched the recor ded videos and found that the phones were thrown along with flowers. It was clear the individuals had no intention (to do so) and it was an accidental act,” he said. “

In the case of the phones recovered from Magadi Road and Malleswaram, we’ll first check the antecedents and other details of the owners. We’ll check the call detail records and see whether they lead to anything suspicious. If we find nothing, we will record the statement (of the owner) and return the device,” another officer said.

A similar incident was reported from Mysuru during the PM’s roadshow on April 30. It was found that the phone belonged to a BJP worker and she had thrown it with a flower, out of excitement.
