New Vande Bharat routes: Fast, modern trains now run from Varanasi to Khajuraho, Lucknow to Saharanpur, Firozpur to Delhi, and Ernakulam to Bengaluru

Four new Vande Bharat Express trains have been introduced from Varanasi, connecting key regions across India — Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru. This expansion marks a major step toward modernising India’s railway infrastructure, providing passengers with faster, safer, and more comfortable travel options. The addition of these routes reflects the country’s growing focus on connectivity, innovation, and economic growth through modern rail transport.

The new Banaras-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express will connect some of India’s most prominent spiritual and cultural destinations, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho, which houses the UNESCO World Heritage temples. Reducing travel time by nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes, the train provides a faster, more convenient link for pilgrims and tourists. The route not only enhances religious tourism but also supports local economies and cultural exchanges between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The Lucknow-Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express will cover the distance in around 7 hours 45 minutes, saving nearly an hour compared to existing trains. This new high-speed service benefits passengers from Lucknow, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Saharanpur, while improving accessibility to Haridwar via Roorkee. The train enhances regional mobility, trade, and tourism, strengthening the overall transport ecosystem in central and western Uttar Pradesh.

The Firozpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express becomes the fastest train on this route, completing the journey in just 6 hours 40 minutes. Connecting Firozpur, Bathinda, and Patiala with Delhi, the service offers a significant boost to commerce, tourism, and employment opportunities in the Malwa region of Punjab. As the first Vande Bharat to serve this border belt, it brings economic integration and faster connectivity to one of the state’s most politically and agriculturally significant regions.

The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express shortens the journey between Kerala and Karnataka by over 2 hours, completing it in just 8 hours 40 minutes. The route connects key IT, education, and business hubs, benefiting professionals, students, and tourists across southern India. By improving connectivity between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, this train supports regional trade, tourism, and cross-state collaboration, contributing to South India’s growing digital and industrial ecosystem.

For the first time, Punjab’s Malwa region, which comprises 69 of the state’s 117 assembly constituencies, will be served by a Vande Bharat Express through the Firozpur-Delhi route. Covering key districts such as Firozpur, Bathinda, and Faridkot, this addition promises to boost cross-border trade, regional tourism, and economic growth. According to the Railways Ministry, this high-speed connection will strengthen people-to-people interaction and help border areas integrate more closely with the national transport grid.

The newly introduced Vande Bharat trains are fitted with the KAVACH system, India’s most advanced indigenous anti-collision safety technology. The feature significantly reduces the chances of accidents and ensures maximum passenger safety. Along with this, the trains are equipped with GPS-based passenger information displays, automatic doors, comfortable reclining seats, Wi-Fi, and LED lighting, creating a world-class, secure, and comfortable rail experience for Indian travellers.
