BENGALURU: Former chief minister and BJP patriarch BS Yediyurappa surprised many on Monday by declaring that the saffron party will face the 2023 assembly elections under collective leadership.
“There should not be any doubt in your mind. We will return to power by fighting the next assembly elections under collective leadership, highlighting all the good work done by our governments,” Yediyurappa said at the 75th Independence Day programme organised by BJP at Kanteerava Stadium.
His comment on collective leadership comes barely three days after Arun Singh, BJP national general secretary in charge of Karnataka, announced in Delhi that chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will lead the party in the assembly elections. Yediyurappa also chided Congress for what he called “daydreaming” about winning.
“They are fighting for the CM post thinking they have already won the elections,” he said. “I want to tell them to stop dreaming. We will tell people how badly they treated Ambedkar.”
