BENGALURU: Septuagenarians Mary Mathew and Baby Zacharia walked into the polling booth right opposite to the heritage cantonment railway station early Wednesday morning. Holding hands, they walked slowly, chatting merrily as they searched for their booths.

"We are childhood friends and stay close by. We have always been voting together. Our children are abroad and we are always together," said Mary. These best friends have never missed a single elections.

Neither have 70-year-old Francis from Gowthampura, who is physically challenged. Francis says he is always the first one to vote. "I run a small shop, which I have closed down for the day. I am not worried about losing the day’s income as this is more important. I feel proud to vote every single time," he said.

Wheelchair-bound Rasollah Khan (71) too has not missed a single election. Khan said he votes in every election so that the country can have an honest party in the power.
