Cars were already flagged in 2021

One of the Rolls-Royce cars was impounded in 2021 for unpaid tax but released quickly after a nominal penalty—sparking dissatisfaction among junior RTO officials.

Luxury cars used in Bengaluru, not registered here

Both Rolls-Royce cars were registered in Maharashtra but were being used regularly in Bengaluru without paying Karnataka’s road tax, which is required after one year

Phantom and ghost in trouble

The two vehicles—a Rolls-Royce Phantom (MH 02 BB 0002) and a Rolls-Royce Ghost (MH 11 AX 0001)—were found operating in Bengaluru, evading taxes for years.

Heavy tax and penalties paid

After the latest RTO visit, Sharif paid ₹19.8 lakh for the Phantom and ₹18.5 lakh for the Ghost, both by cheque, settling dues totaling nearly ₹40 lakh for road usage.

High-end models involved

The vehicles in question are a Rolls-Royce Phantom and a Rolls-Royce Ghost, both ultra-luxury sedans known for their exclusivity, comfort, and multimillion-rupee price tags.

6/7

Improper tax use in Karnataka

Though registered in Maharashtra, both cars were regularly used in Bengaluru. Karnataka law requires road tax if an out-of-state vehicle is used for over a year.

7/7

Celebrity-owned luxury cars

Yusuf Sharif, aka KGF Babu, owns two Rolls-Royce cars—one previously owned by Amitabh Bachchan and the other by Aamir Khan—making them highly prized collector’s vehicles.
