Congress govt dropped 1,300 acres from acquisition: B S Yeddyurappa

BENGALURU: Counsel for former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa told the high court on Wednesday that the Congress government had dropped 1,300 acres from acquisition during March April 2014 by `a single stroke of the pen.' “The first judgment in the

Shivaram Karanth case

came in November 2014. They (the government) had 18 months to implement the project. Out of 3,500 acres, even if we add the 257 acres recommended by the petitioner with 446 acres left out by the BDA, 2,800 acres were available for the project. But they ordered for deletion of 1,300 acres. About 200 similar orders were issued in March April 2014, prior to the Lok Sabha polls which included 10 numbers relating to

MLA Byrathi Basavaraju

,“ counsel

C V Nagesh

alleged.

Nagesh said the intention was not to find fault with the government but to drive home the point that how could they point fingers at Yeddyurappa for recommending noninclusion of 257 acres from the final notification of the layout project when they themselves ordered for deletion of such a vast extent of lands sought to be acquired. The next hearing is on Thursday .
