HASSAN: JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy claimed on Sunday that a prominent Congress minister is considering joining the BJP to evade legal troubles initiated by the Centre.
Kumaraswamy, a former chief minister, disclosed that the minister, facing multiple cases, is currently in negotiations with BJP leaders and might bring along "50 to 60 MLAs" in the process of switching parties.
Addressing reporters, Kumaraswamy expressed concerns about the internal strife within the Congress government and the uncertain timeline of its continuity.
Without revealing the minister's identity, he emphasized that such a bold move could only come from influential figures, suggesting a potential political shift in Karnataka akin to the situation in Maharashtra.
Kumaraswamy noted the unpredictable political atmosphere and acknowledged that pragmatic considerations often override ideological affiliations as politicians change allegiances.
