mysore: mysore university vice-chancellor prof s.n.hegde on wednesday said the 20th conference of indian council of chemists would be held from december 22 to 24 under the auspices of the department of chemistry, mysore university. he told reporters that higher and medical education minister g.parmeshwar (who is also the pro-chancellor of mysore university), will inaugurate the event.
prof kohei tamao of kyoto university, japan, will deliver the keynote address. prof s.p.hiremath, vice-chancellor of kuvempu university will release the souvenir. the council was formed to promote the cause of chemical research and education in the country in association with international society of chemistry, he added. he said the department of chemistry, mysore university, had been working with icc since many years. `during the last 41 years, over 1,000 research papers have been published in various journals by staff and research students of the department''. about 520 delegates are expected to present their papers in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry and environmental chemistry. apart from oral and poster presentations, hegde said, eminent scientists would deliver lectures during the conference. a special session on `interface of chemistry and biotechnology' has also been arranged. prof v.n.rajashekara pillai, director of national assessment and accreditation council (naac) will deliver the valedictory address. dr greesh saxena, the vice-chancellor of agra university will preside.
