BENGALURU: Observing that Caesarean (C-section) deliveries were crossing more than 50% of the total deliveries in some districts, health minister

He was speaking at a review meeting held with DHOs in Bengaluru on Tuesday. “The number of C-section deliveries has been increasing. Complaints about C-section deliveries being conducted when not required have become common and officers must keep a close watch on private hospitals if

natural deliveries

are not encouraged. Action must be taken against erring hospitals,” the minister said.

Sudhakar reviewed progress of each district in terms of health indicators. Noticing that some districts were far below the targets set for public health delivery in various parameters, he said DHOs of the respective districts will be taken to task if the targets are unmet.
