Bengaluru’s New AC Buses on NICE Road May Outrun Namma Metro on E-City–Madavara Stretch

New AC service planned

The new AC fleet on the Madavara–Electronics City stretch aims to offer a quicker commute through NICE Road, running every half hour. The ride is expected to take about 90 minutes, offering a smoother alternative to rail users juggling interchanges and long station counts.

2/10

Faster than Metro travel

Officials say the air-conditioned buses will cut travel time, especially since Metro riders must hop across two corridors and pass nearly 40 stations. The switch at RV Road alone adds major delays during peak crowds. (AI image)

3/10

Route designed for convenience

The service will branch out at Magadi Road, Mysuru Road and other connecting points, helping thousands who rely on this corridor. Officials expect steady demand because the stretch already sees success with existing services.

4/10

Not competing with Metro

BMTC clarified that the new line isn’t intended to rival Namma Metro but to give riders another comfortable option. The buses will glide along express stretches, exiting briefly at toll points to reconnect with NICE Road. (AI image)

5/10

Fare structure announced

A single trip on the new AC bus will cost Rs 110, including toll charges. While the Metro remains slightly cheaper, buses promise fewer transfers and more seating comfort. BMTC also plans monthly passes for regular users.

6/10

Seven buses to start with

The corporation will initially deploy seven vehicles on the 45-km run, operating from 6.30am to 7.30pm. Based on ridership response, more buses may be added to maintain steady intervals and reduce delays. (AI image)

7/10

Commuters welcome the move

Daily riders say the service could be a relief, especially during rush hour when Metro trains get overcrowded. Many feel buses might offer a calmer journey, though the shift of women passengers remains uncertain under existing free-travel schemes. (AI image)

8/10

Existing AC service a success

BMTC already runs a similar AC line from Vijayanagar TTMC to Electronics City via NICE Road, which has drawn strong ridership. This positive response encouraged the corporation to introduce another premium corridor. (AI image)

9/10

Comfort may attract more riders

Office-goers say the combination of cooling, direct routes and fewer transfers will likely appeal to those seeking predictability. Packed trains often leave commuters standing, while buses may ensure a more relaxed ride. (AI image)

10/10

Scope for expansion

Passengers have suggested extending the AC service from places like Dasarahalli and Jalahalli, noting that demand spreads beyond Madavara. BMTC is examining route adjustments to include more pick-up points.
