Groundwater depletion cause

As per Prof TV Ramachandra of IISc’s Centre for Ecological Sciences, the water spread area has decreased drastically from 2,324 hectares in 1973 to only 696 hectares in 2023. This decline is believed to be the primary cause of the depleting groundwater table across Bengaluru.

The loss of 88% of vegetation over the past 50 years has severely impacted the sequestration of respiratory carbon.

Furthermore, an alarming 88% loss of vegetation has been recorded, exacerbating air pollution and rising temperatures.

Conversely, there has been a striking 79% decrease in the water spread area, leading to severe shortages and affecting groundwater levels.

The built-up areas in Bengaluru have seen a staggering 1055% rise over the past few decades, significantly impacting Bengaluru's landscape.

The only reason is BAD administration. FSI violated buildings, no norms were followed in converting the agricultural land to residential plots. Not restricted, bore wells, number of bore wells as well as depth. All are greedy because will get rent, US companies providing extravaganza salaries made people think they are more powerful than nature.
