Tender floated

BMRCL on Sunday invited bids for the civil, structural, and finishing works required to build the proposed elevated walkway (AI Image)

3/10

Project cost

The infrastructure project is estimated to cost around Rs 59 crore, covering construction as well as architectural enhancements (AI Image)

4/10

First travelator

The walkway will feature the first travelator in the city’s Metro network, marking a significant commuter convenience upgrade (AI Image)

5/10

Travelator concept

A travelator is a slow-moving, conveyor-style pedestrian platform commonly seen at airports, designed to ease movement across longer walking distances in transit hubs (AI Image)

6/10

Length & connectivity

The nearly 250-metre-long elevated walkway will connect the already operational Yellow Line (Bommasandra to RV Road) with the upcoming Blue Line along the Outer Ring Road (AI Image)

7/10

Work scope

The contract includes detailed civil and structural execution along with architectural finishing to improve both functionality and aesthetic appeal of the walkway (AI Image)

8/10

No direct interchange

Unlike key interchange hubs such as Majestic Metro Station, Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road Metro Station, and MG Road Metro Station, Silk Board Junction will not have a direct transition between lines, making the walkway essential (AI Image)

9/10

Timeline & connectivity boost

The Blue Line station is expected to be completed by December 2026 and will eventually provide connectivity to Kempegowda International Airport by 2027 (AI Image)

Bidding & execution timeline

"Land acquisition for the project is ongoing. Once the bidding period is over, it will take at least one or two months to select the eligible bidder. Only the tender has been floated; technical specifications are yet to be figured out," a BMRCL official said.
