New Skywalk Launch in Whitefield

A new skywalk connecting Pattandur Agrahara Metro station to International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPB) was inaugurated on Friday. It aims to provide nearly 50,000 tech professionals a safer, faster, and direct route to the campus, avoiding the congested service road outside the station.

2/10

Direct Link to ITPB Campus

The skywalk offers seamless access to ITPB, which houses around 140 tech companies and sees a daily footfall of 60,000–70,000 employees. This direct connection improves commuting safety and reduces walking time for staff travelling from the Metro station.

3/10

Connection to Park Square Mall

Besides ITPB, the skywalk also links the campus to Park Square Mall. Many employees use the mall while entering or leaving work, making the commute more convenient and encouraging them to choose the Metro over road transport.

4/10

Public-Private Partnership

The skywalk was developed through a public-private partnership between CapitaLand and BMRCL. CapitaLand fully funded the construction and paid a connectivity fee to BMRCL, while the Metro agency approved the design and permissions, ensuring smooth coordination.

5/10

Safer Commute for Employees

Employees had previously faced safety risks crossing the congested service road filled with autos and parked vehicles. The skywalk provides a secure, pedestrian-only path, reducing the chances of accidents during peak commuting hours.

6/10

Time-Saving Advantage

The direct access from the Metro to ITPB will save commuters at least 10 minutes of walking daily. It eliminates delays caused by traffic and gives employees a quicker, stress-free route to their workplace.

7/10

Night Shift Benefits

For night-shift employees, commuting from the Metro station was particularly unsafe. The skywalk now ensures a well-lit, direct route, giving workers peace of mind while travelling to and from ITPB during late hours.

8/10

Improved Pedestrian Experience

Pedestrians previously had to navigate a chaotic stretch without proper signals or safe crossings. The skywalk provides a dedicated path, separating foot traffic from vehicles and significantly enhancing the overall commuting experience.

9/10

Encouraging Metro Use

By connecting the Metro directly to the tech park and mall, the skywalk encourages employees to use public transport more frequently. Reduced reliance on road vehicles can also help ease congestion in the Whitefield area.

10/10

Employee Feedback

Commuters welcome the skywalk as a “game-changer” for workplace safety and convenience. Many employees highlighted that the new route prevents daily hazards, reduces travel stress, and creates a more efficient way to reach ITPB from the Metro station.
