Killer PF malaria cases touch 3,389

BAREILLY: The deadly plasmodium falciparum (PF)

malaria

cases reached 3,389 on Wednesday, while 7,372 plasmodium vivax cases detected thus far in

Bareilly

district.


Of the total 454 PF positive cases reported in the district till Wednesday, 230 detected in Majhgavan block.

, Dr Pramila Gaur, who inspected Majhgavan block on Wednesday, said, “As there have been long queues at rapid diagnostic test counters, I have directed the chief medical officer (CMO) to increase the number of counters from three to five.”

Dr Vineet Shukla, CMO, Bareilly, said, “As maximum PF cases are being reported from Majhgavan, we have decided to increase number of doctors there. Many PF patients taking medication have been cured.”

In the past one month, 46 persons died of fever. Besides, 14 cases of dengue have also been reported.

As Majhgavan block is worst affected by PF cases, residents have been organising special prayers for the recovery of infected people. In Bisharatganj town, residents on Wednesday organised a special prayer of lord Ganesh. Similarly, residents of Behta Bujurg village, where nine people succumbed to illness, conducted prayers recently to ward off evil forces.
