IMA presents play on doctor-patient relationship
Aurangabad: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Aurangabad organised a theatre presentation of ‘Zara Samjun Ghya’, featuring seasoned actors — Mohan Agashe and Manjusha Godse — at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha near Paithan Gate on Saturday night.
The two-part drama, which aims to improve the deteriorating doctor-patient relationship, is a production of Pune-based Maharashtra Cultural Centre.
The drama portrays how a doctors has to be empathetic and considerate. Also, patients need to understand the limitations of a doctor and place confidence in the medical treatment.
Explaining about the idea of holding the screening, IMA-Aurangabad’s programme coordinator Amol Deshmukh said that a sound communication between the doctor and the patient is crucial for many reasons. Though prognosis depends of various factors like the advancement of the condition, the immunity of the patient, the drug response and the availability of emergency treatment. “But, communication ensures that the doctor has a confidence in treating the patient and the patient develops trust on the doctor for the treatment,” Deshmukh said.
