Externed criminal, kin attack police team, held

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 24-year-old externed criminal and some of his family members allegedly attacked cops in Bhavsingpura area around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.Cantonment police have registered a case against him and six of his kin, including four women, under the BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder), 132 (using criminal force against a public servant), 190 (unlawful assembly), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), among other charges.Police sub inspector Kakasaheb Nagawe said a police patrolling team got information that the 24-year externed criminal has returned to Bhawsingpura."When the police team approached the accused, he and his family members started abusing and threatening the cops. The accused also took the keys of a police vehicle and threatened the personnel of dire consequences," Nagawe said."By the time additional force reached, the main accused tried to assault one of our cops with a knife, while his family members bit the ear of another personnel," he added.
